Open House and First Day Jitters

I have lots to share since I have been mia for the past couple of weeks, but I am so tired this post will be short and sweet.

Today was back to school for teachers and Open House. I made it through new teachers introduction this morning pretty good. Thankfully the super didn't embarrass me, and I didn't have to stand up which was a plus. I have been dreading Open House for some time now. I just hated the thought of facing parents. Some parents are so harsh and I was afraid they would ask questions I didn't know the answers to. Thankfully my partner teacher and I decided to do our presentations together and I didn't have to talk in front of everybody at all. Ya, I kind of cheated, but she offered! lol I did meet and greet parents and students on my own and I think things went pretty well. I have a bunch of cuties and mostly girls, which is a plus. If I can just stay away from all the drama. The whole bus thing scares me. Putting kids on buses, is this the right one, what is your name, no your a walker....................it just plain scares me. I mean were talking about the safety of these children are in MY hands!! Hoping all of that goes well.

Now to conquer the first day of school. Thankfully tomorrow afternoon I will have some more time to get last minute things together. My room is pretty much complete, just a thing here and a thing there to do. I'll take picts Wednesday morning. Or I will try anyway. Now that I am past Open House and have met my kids I feel better about the first day. I can do this. There only 6! One of the books I am going to read on the first day to my kids is The First Day Jitters

Cover Art of First Day Jitters

It's a cute little book about Sarah Jane, who does not want to go to school on the first day. In the end you find out it's actually the teacher who is not wanting to go. It's super cute and true! For this teacher anyway :)

I wish good luck to all the new and returning teachers and students who have or will start back to school! Good Luck! Hope it's a great year!!

buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of
newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."

St. Louis Vaca

We are back from our mini vaca in St Louis to visit Cory's dad. While we were there we did tons of shopping!! There are two malls I absolutely love and tons of other stores I can't shop at, at home. I needed some school clothes, we both needed school shoes, and I needed some more teaching stuff. I looked ALL over for shower caddies to go on the students tables for community pencils, colors and markers. Nobody had them! Not even The Container Store. I was shocked!! I found some at the Dollar Store but they only had two colors, green and red, and I need 4 colors. I was going to get them but was afraid I would find all four colors somewhere else and I wanted them to be the same style. Well.........................on our way home we sopped at a Dollar Store and found purple and blue. I was like seriously!! Are you kidding me?! What are the odds!! I knew I should have gotten those other ones. Oh well. So I am once again on a quest to find the other two colors. Hoping I find them before August 24!!

While we were there we also stopped and shopped in Old St. Charles. It was so beautiful and had lots of cute little shops. I was a little hot but still fun. I would love to go back in the fall when it's not so hot. It was lunch time when we got there so we found a pizza joint to eat it and were not unhappy with our choice! We ordered the Chicago Style pizza! It was not as thick as real Chicago Style pizza but it was still really yummy! Not that I know what "real" Chicago Style pizza tastes like, but I've seen picts of the real thing. Later on we stopped at an ice cream parlour and had a brown cow (coke float) and a cookies and cream shake. So yummy! It was a cool treat on a hot day!! Our feet were sooooo tired by the time we got home.

I still don't have my room finished because we went out of town and they were waxing the hallways. But we can get in tomorrow and the craziness begins. I'm a little nervous about if I'm going to be able to get everything done on time. Being thrown out for almost 2 weeks really threw me off course. I have a meeting today with the First and Kindergarten teachers to go over Daily Five. If you are a teacher you should totally check this book out! It goes along with the CAFE book and it sounds amazing. We are implementing it this year and hoping it goes as good as it sounds!!

Well off to get some more stuff done. Happy rest of summer! What's left of it :)

Where does the time go...................

I think I ask myself this EVERY summer!! Where does it go? I start out the summer with just about three months of whatever I want to do bliss, and before I know it, I'm down to two and a half weeks left!! How did that happen? I don't understand. It seems to go so quickly and the school year seems to go soooo slowly. Maybe now that I am actually the teacher it will go by much faster.

I still dread the first day of school, just like I did when I was actually in school. I have always heard of first year teachers who have that upset crying ordeal the first day and I pray it doesn't happen to me. I think what scares me is this is it. I have been in school to be a teacher for six years, thought about the things I would do, observed other teachers, but now it's my turn. It's one of those are you capable moments. The moment of truth! The can I handle this and really make it work thoughts. The am I going to be a good teacher thoughts. What scares me even more is that my co-workers might think I'm an idiot. I know a lot of stuff, but don't always know the technical term. Or I remember the technical term but don't remember what it means. I should know this stuff, I'm fresh out of college. I know in the end it will all work out, but my stress level just might be through the roof until then.

In other news, I am not pregnant, again! grrrrrrrr But I knew I probably wasn't so it wasn't too big of a surprise. I am very proud of myself because I haven't taken a pregnancy test in quite a few months. I have been being a good girl and just waiting for my own built in pregnancy test to come. This cycle I start on my second round of 100 mg of clomid. My 6 or 7 round of clomid period. I dread this month though because 2 months in a row of 100 mg clomid is going to be torture. My ovaries were already hurting this past month with one round of 100 mg, 2 months in a row of 100 is going to kill me. But I am praying August is the month because it is my perfect month. One it's my birthday, two it will fit right in schedule with getting out of school. No maternity leave and all summer with a new baby. That would be amazing. But God's plan is not my plan. So hoping that just maybe August will fit into His plan.

My Classroom Before

So I thought I would take some picts of my classroom before it was all finished so you could truly appreciate all my hard work. hehehe!! And honestly these picts are halfway through. I wish I would have thought about it in the beginning. I had to go through everything so I could see what I had, then realized that it was all unorganized and some needed to be thrown away. I was so lost and realized that I was picking stuff up, just to move it to another spot it didn't need to be. I finally called the other first grade teacher to see if she would come and help me. Thankfully she was more then willing. Finally I had someone who could tell me what stuff was, what it went with, and where would be a good spot for it.

This pic is the view from my door.

This is the view from my desk.

And this is from the front of the room. Door is on the left. See my nice Smartboard?! I'm super excited about it! I can't wait to use it. I'm sure I will be using it all the time, every day!!

This is my desk. A little messy right now but should be cleaned off soon. They are waxing the hallways Monday so we have to be out until August 10th. I'm a little freaked out. Teachers go back August 22 and that afternoon is Open House. That only gives me a week and a half. Yikes!!! I still have to do my bulletin boards, label things, students desk tags, start lesson plans, oh my!! Now I'm really freaked! I hope I can get it all done. We are going to St Louis on Friday so I am hoping I can find some cool things while shopping! And hopefully some new school clothes!

We've been lazy all day. I've been blog hopping and Cory's been channel surfing. I found a cool teacher blog that has some super cute labels and ideas. I am so excited to get some supplies and get started. I love polka dots and zebra and she incorporated both!! Super cute! I can't wait for you to see them. I can't wait to see them! lol

Well hopefully I will be able to post picts of my finished classroom soon. Have a great weekend!!
