Happy Birthday America!

This year for 4th of July we headed to Little Rock, AR to celebrate. My hubby has always wanted to go to the mountains for vaca but we just haven't made it that way yet. So this year he improvised with climbing Pinnacle Mountain. It's nothing compared to the real mountains we would like to visit but it was nice to do something different than what we usually do for the 4th and it was nice to be outside enjoying some fresh air and nature.

Morgan did so well and wanted to walk the whole time. There was a few times that there were too many rocks and we had to pick her up and hold her. She asked about everything on the way and once we saw some lizards scurrying around she was excited to look for more. 

She wasn't too happy to hold our hands but there were some parts that were just too big for little girls. 

The next day, 4th of July, we went back to Pinnacle Mountain but went to an easier trail. It was way nothing compared to what we had done the day before. Course, Morgan wanted to be held the whole time on this trail. Not sure what the deal was but I kept in mind that she is only two. She still did super good and I think really enjoyed both trips to the mountain. 

That night we went to the River Market to Pops on the River to walk around and watch fireworks. There were tons and tons of people but it was fun to check out the vendors and the food. They also had a little kiddie zone that Morgan got to do some free fun things. 

4th of July 2014

The bridge was gorgeous lit all with red, white and blue! 

It was neat because we got to listen to the Arkansas Orchestra which was pretty amazing. The whole evening was pretty wonderful and no other 4th of July in the past has compared to it. I am so glad that we were able and my husband was willing to stray from the usual plans to go make memories of our own as a family! Happy 4th of July ya'll!!

First 4th of July

I really kind of dreaded 4th of July because Morgan had been very cranky the couple of days before and I just knew she would be screaming the whole time we were gone. Thank goodness I was wrong! She actually did wonderful.

We started the holiday off by going to visit Terry, Cory's dad, and some of his family. Terry lives in St. Louis so he doesn't get to see Morgan as much as he would like. He was so excited to see her and loved showing her off the rest of the family.

4th of July is always is a big day full of stuff to do. First thing we do is head to Aunt Sue's house for breakfast and then watch the parade. Morgan slept the whole time.

Then we head to the Corning picnic. I mainly dreaded this because I knew it was going to be extremely hot and I figured this would be when she would be so cranky. Again, she did great. She slept the whole time we were out there. We got to see many of Cory's old friends from high school and family friends. Everybody was excited to see Morgan.

After the picnic we head to Tina's to eat lunch. I always love going to Tina's to eat for the 4th because there is always so much good food. Morgan got to meet her 2nd cousins Kendall and Peyton. They both loved and loved on her. It was the cutest thing.

Then we headed to Renea Garlands (friends of Diane) so more people could see Morgan and to put her in the pool for the first time. By the time we were able to get into the pool Morgan was so tired. Poor baby. She had been passed around so much and didn't cry at all. Before she fell asleep Cory took her for a quick swim. She didn't cry but she wasn't smiling either. I think if she hadn't have been so tired she may have liked it better.

I think Morgan's first 4th was a huge success. No screaming or crying and she slept most of the day. Next year she will be running around and getting into everything. I can't wait!

4th of July Fun

We spent 4th of July in Corning, like we always do. They have their annual parade and picnic (I'm not sure why they call it a picnic because nobody picnics, more like a carnival type thing) and we usually get together as a family to eat lunch. 4th of July is always packed until the fireworks at 10:00 pm. We are always wore out when the day is over. We start the morning with breakfast at his great aunt's house then sit in her front lawn and watch the parade. Cory usually dresses up as a president and walks in it with some other guys but there wasn't enough men so they didn't do it this year. Cory was very upset. I don't know why but he loves doing it!! It rained this year during the parade but they just kept going. Somebody said it hadn't rained during the parade since the late 70's.

Babies, babies, and more babies. Yes, we have eight little ones in our family right now. Two of those are an in-laws. Holidays are fun these days.

Then we head over to his aunt's house to eat lunch with the family. Usually the food is really good and today was no different! Ribs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, rolls, corn on the cob, asparagus, cheesecake, peach tart, grape salad, and on and on. Yummo!!!! We stuffed ourselves till we were sick. Every year, I tell ya, we do it every year.

After lunch Cory and I usually head out to the picnic to buy our truck tickets and see people. Cory was born and raised in Corning so he always sees people he hasn't seen for years, school friends, and family. After walking around the picnic we headed back to his aunts and watched movies. It was so nice to just sit and relax and hang out with the family. Now to wait for the fireworks. It's been a long day, but a good one.
